As I sit here, with my (strange) Speech Science book keeping me company, I’m going to go ahead and not study a little longer. Why? Because I need to share this.
Anyone who knows me knows that I do not do country music. I have never youtubed anything the far side of Taylor Swift. I have worn a cowboy hat a grand total of once in my life (and that was for a theme party). So, logically, I went to Nick’s.
Nick’s is not just a bar, it is a country music line dancing establishment.
EXT: SMALL TOWN BAR – NIGHT
A car pulls up outside of a small town bar. Five graduate students, emerge. One (a male) is wearing a cowboy hat. Another (a female, SUZY) has boots. A third (a male) is wearing a denim shirt. The group walks into the bar and is hit with a wall of country music. They look around, assessing their surroundings, until…]
Suzy: Ok, who’s doing line dancing lessons?!
Yepppp, that happened. And it was (dare I say it?) fun.
Country music is blaring. Couples are dancing around, almost effortlessly. Suzy (23) is dancing with an older man, as her companions look on.]
CAMERA PANS TO COWBOY WHO APPROACHES SASHA (23)
Cowboy: Care to join me? I can teach you.
And suddenly, I was learning to two-step from a cowboy. Can my life get any stranger?
[INT: BAR, BACK ROOM – LATER
Hip hop music begins playing. Ten girls, scantily clad, stand in a row.]
Announcer: Are you ready for the Daisy Dukes contest? Ladies, as I say your name, present yourself.
CAMERA PANS BACK TO THE DANCE FLOOR, WHERE WE SEE SUZY STRUT HER STUFF ACROSS THE DANCE FLOOR.
This is the scene where Suzy whips out her skills and wins third place in a Daisy Dukes contest.
Will I be listening to more country music? Not a chance. Would I go back, given the opportunity? Almost certainly. I mean, we got to wobble and everything!
